🚵‍♂️ Cape Epic Complete. What a journey.

Werner Joyce, Senior EPM Consultant at Venn Cubed, has officially finished the Absa Cape Epic — and what an effort it’s been.

For Werner, finishing was always the goal. And after an incredibly tough week, he’s crossed the line.

The defining moment came on Stage 5 (Queen Stage – 136 km) — a monster day. About 40 km in, heavy rain turned the course into thick mud, clogging chains and brakes and making conditions extremely challenging. Despite this, Werner and teammate Alewyn Grové pushed through and completed the stage safely in around 8 hours.

The final two days in Stellenbosch brought a welcome change:

➡️ Stage 6 (76 km | 2,450 m climbing) – still tough, but on world-class trails
➡️ Stage 7 (58 km | 2,150 m climbing) – shorter, more playful, and a great way to finish

After a week of extreme conditions — heat, rocks, mud and long distances — they completed the race without any serious incidents or injuries.

Werner summed it up best: this was his Epic swansong — and likely his last Cape Epic.

We’re incredibly proud to have sponsored Werner on this journey. The resilience, determination and grit he’s shown out there reflect exactly what we value at Venn Cubed.
